Rate: $25-35 per hour, based on experience and education
Ideal start date: August or September 2025
The Filipino Canadian Social and Community Workers Network (FCSCWN) continues to grow. As we approach our 10th anniversary in 2027, we’re focusing current efforts towards grant writing, research, strategic planning and capacity building, communications and outreach, and member engagement. At this time, we are looking to fill four roles,
Project coordinator: Responsible to develop and coordinate our multiple projects, this position is best suited for someone with proven project management, administrative – logistics, research, organizational growth, community organizing, and facilitation skills. This person should have existing knowledge about and connection to the network.
Website and communications coordinator: Leading the slow revamp of our website, this position will continue to build our website and social media presence. This role is suited for people familiar and comfortable with creating digital content. You’ll also offer leadership in the next iteration of our podcast project, Tayo Na!
Research assistants (2): These positions will support current data collection, grant writing, literature reviews, and network activities related to two research projects. The first project will engage Filipino/a/x workers in the helping professions who work in and with Indigenous communities in Canada using decolonizing and feminist methodologies. The second project involves applied research (program development – implementation, evaluation and strategic planning) for the network and various community partners.
Specific duties and responsibilities will be established with each hire, based on their individual strengths and skills, as well as the desired skills and knowledge they want to develop or further refine. The new hires will work as a team supported by Dr. Monica Anne Batac (University of Manitoba), with ongoing collaboration with Dr. Ilyan Ferrer (Carleton University), Dr. Fritz Pino (University of Regina), Veronica Javier (York University), and other members in the network. Funding for this project comes from a series of grants through the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Social Work and Centre for Human Rights Research.
Qualifications:
Preference for Filipino/a/x applicant due to project focus;
