Position Title: Events Coordinator
Reporting to: Principal investigators
Contract length: 8 months, ~320 hours @ $28 CAD, approx. 5-10 hours per week
Project description: With the Filipino-Canadian Social and Community Workers Network (FCSCWN), this SSHRC-funded project is a virtual community knowledge mobilization and outreach initiative that will expand and magnify research and practice-oriented dialogues among Filipino/a/x social work scholars, students, service providers, and community organizers across provinces and territories. These engagements will take place on a dynamic website (https://filcanscw.ca/), which serves as a repository for outputs generated for the project. Our main knowledge mobilization focus is a podcast series that centers the emerging concerns and interests of Filipino/a/x social work and social provision practitioners.
The research assistant will support the project team in organizing and implementing a series of virtual activities related to the podcast project, and will be focused on coordinating a virtual symposium tentatively scheduled for February 2025.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Managing communication and coordination of virtual summit;
Planning for and organizing meetings and other logistics, including file management, confirming accuracy of meeting minutes, action items, and follow-ups related to the virtual summit;
Co-supervising and coordinating project team in preparation for and during virtual summit;
Supporting and coordinating the virtual summit in collaboration with the principal investigators;
Liaising with website coordinator;
Supporting research activities as needed;
Preparing final report and supporting any related publications.
Qualifications:
Current undergraduate, MSW, or PhD student enrolled in Social Work or a related discipline;
Relevant research and practice experience and demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a collaborative environment;
Ability to work independently
Preference for Filipino/a/x applicant due to project focus;
Excellent written, analytical and oral communication skills;
Ability to read, write, and/or speak a Philippine language is a plus.
